1. Seedling is a marketplace, not the seller
Seedling is a platform where independent organizations (“Spaces”) create and sell programs. When you pay for a program, the Space is the seller and the merchant of record for that transaction. Seedling facilitates the payment through Stripe Connect and retains a platform fee, but does not directly sell programs.
This means that most refund and cancellation decisions are made by the Space. If you want to cancel or request a refund, contact the Space that sold you the program first.
2. Cancelling an application before payment
If you have applied to a program but not yet paid, you can withdraw your application at any time before payment. Just contact the Space directly or delete your application from your participant dashboard.
3. Refunds after payment
Each Space is responsible for defining the refund rules of its own programs. Typical scenarios handled by the Space include:
- Program cancelled by the Space — if the Space cancels a program, the Space is expected to refund participants in full.
- Material change to the program — if the schedule, format, or content changes substantially and you no longer want to participate, contact the Space to request a refund.
- Participant cancellation — if you change your mind, the Space may or may not offer a refund, depending on its own policy. Ask the Space before booking if this matters to you.
4. EU consumer rights (14-day withdrawal)
If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area buying a digital or in-person program from a Space based in the EU, you generally have the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days of payment without giving a reason, under Directive 2011/83/EU. Exceptions apply:
- If you expressly asked for the program to start before the end of the 14-day window and the program has already been performed, you may lose the right to withdraw.
- If the program has a specific date or period of performance (for example, a dated gathering), the right to withdraw may not apply once that date is within the next 14 days.
Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in this policy or in a Space’s own refund rules.
5. How to request a refund
- Contact the Space first, through the contact details shown on its program page.
- Explain the reason and the transaction details (program name, approximate payment date, amount).
- If the Space agrees to a refund, they will process it through Stripe. Refunds usually appear on your card or bank statement within 5–10 business days.
6. When Seedling steps in
Seedling will not overrule a Space’s own legitimate refund decision, but we may intervene if:
- A Space has become unresponsive and a participant has no reasonable way to reach them.
- A Space is found to have misrepresented a program or to be operating in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy.
- Stripe requires a refund as the result of a dispute or chargeback.
In those cases, contact us at office@prometheusworks.co and we will do our best to help.
7. Chargebacks and disputes
If you file a chargeback with your bank or card issuer, the dispute is handled directly between the card network, Stripe, and the Space. Because Seedling uses Stripe Connect Destination Charges, any chargeback loss is borne primarily by the connected Space, not by Seedling. Repeated or fraudulent chargebacks may lead to Stripe restricting or terminating the Space’s connected account.
8. Platform fee refunds
When a Space issues a full refund, Seedling also refunds its platform fee for that transaction. Partial refunds reduce the platform fee proportionally.
